                                  ABOUT GLORIA

Gloria Breton, OTR/L has over 20 years of experience working as an OT in many settings, including schools, pediatric clinic, adult rehabilitation, geriatrics and home care. For the past 10+ years she has been employed at the River Valley Charter School in Newburyport, Massachusetts.  There she provides evaluation, direct treatment, consults and parent/teacher education for students in grades K-8.  She also works at Project CHILLD in Beverly, MA as a staff therapist providing occupational therapy  and Integrated Listening Therapy services to clients ages 2-adult.

Gloria has specialized experience and training in many facets of pediatric occupational therapy, including certifications in Handwritng Without Tears, the Sensory Integration and Praxis Test, the Alert Program (How Does Your Engine Run), Integrated Listening Systems, infant reflex assessment and treatment, and Irlen Screening. She uses a holistic approach to assessment and treatment and is happy to consult with any other specialist a child may be seeing, and to work with the parents to provide a home program.

For the past 4 years, Gloria has been fortunate enough to consult with Leslie Novak, creator of the Howda Seat.  Together they have collaborated on the HowdaHUG, designed especially for children.  These seats have proven to be especially helpful for the specific sensory needs  of children diagnosed with ADHD, ASD and SPD, as well as many other special needs.  She has been able to travel throughout the country and meet with experts in the field of pediatric occupational therapy to both teach about the seats and learn from these amazing resources.

Gloria's areas of special interest include handwriting, sensory processing disorder, autism spectrum disorders, pediatric mental health issues, Tomatis-based listening therapy, and holistic approaches to healing.  In addition to her occupational therapy training, Gloria is a Reiki Master with experience working with both humans and pets. She has her Massachusetts Occupational Therapy License and NBCOT certification.

Gloria meeting with Carol Kranowitz, author of The Out-of-Sync Child, and Dr. Lucy Jane Miller, author of Sensational Kids, and director of the Sensory Processing Disorders Foundation, at the Denver Annual SPD Symposium.
